the online live music gig guide for birmingham & the midlands

The Yampy Werewolves

Formed in 2004 by Andy Bucknall. The music is best described as eclectic indie pop and draws on a number of influences ranging from Queens of the stone age to hendrix to the beatles to frank zappa and beyond. The current line-up is as follows:
Andy Bucknall - Lead Guitar / Vocals
Neil Wright - Bass
Gil Greiner - Drums
Andy Wickett - Guest vocals
Brendan Higgins - Occasional poetry.

The band are trying to create a political musical movement centred around their concept of social lycanthropy - which is basically a backlash to Middle Class ethics, attitude and living. Working Class werewolves are people who couldn't give a flying f*ck what the likes of Tony Blair and his bunch of ares-lickers think about anything - they, ( the politicians ) are hairy on the inside, we, ( The Working Class Werewolves )are hairy on the outside - there's a big difference between the two.
